Country Kids Collection recently hosted a competition to help collect sheep and cattle tags for a young boy in Western Australia called Shane. He uses the tags to decorate his motorised wheel chair.
When we put the call out we hoped to maybe collect around 100 tags to send over to Shane. Almost immediately our facebook post circulated all over Australia with over 1000 likes & comments, 400 shares and a total of 50,000 people seeing our post.
The result blew us away. An influx of parcels began to arrive containing tags, gifts, cards and letters for Shane. The generosity and enthusiasm of total strangers was overwhelming. The items were repackaged and forwarded to Shane.
Of course when we announced the competition winners we didn't want to say too much until Shane received the parcel. Asyoucan see by the photos a huge amount of tags and gifts were collected. However more than that, a little boys day was made special by your random acts of kindness. Sometimes the smallest of acts can create the biggest impact. So a big, big thank you to all who liked/commented/shared our facebook post, and to those of you who sent in tags, cards and gifts - you are awesome.
If you didn't get the opportunity to send in your tags you can still help - Shane's family is currently fundraising to buy equipment to help with Shane's mobility and quality of life. Click here to see how you can help.

It is funny the communication between children and their parents – the quirky things they say and our unique ability to decipher what they are trying to convey. For instance when I asked Alice (my three year old daughter) what she wanted for dinner last night she replied “sheep eggs please mum”. Firstly I should clarify these aren’t real sheep [...]
We recently welcomed a new member to the family on Christmas Day 2014 - a foal called Minnie. No, she wasn't born in a manger nor was it immaculate conception! In fact, it was a long road with many set backs, and like any other DIY project sometimes it is easier to buy a horse [...]
